Exposure With Schizophrenia – Ways Of Accepting Your Disorder
One of the best ways to fight against stigma is by exposure. Exposure is when someone who suffers from schizophrenia disorder begins to accept the fact that he has difficulties and he needs to take care of himself.
Taking care of him when having schizophrenia, is not a common routine among people who suffer from schizophrenia. Most of the people, who suffer from schizophrenia, refuse to accept the fact that they are in some sort of trouble. They think that everything is ok with them and that people surrounding them don’t want to give them they’re freedom.
In order to start and live better with a way of accepting your self, you have to, as a sufferer, to take control of your life and your disease. By taking that control, you show to your environment that you are a mature human been that is wheeling to accept his fait. When accepting your fait with your disease, you begin to understand that your mental illness is not so important in your life, and then it gets its minor importance in your life as it should be. Not ignoring it, but do accepting it.
Wheeling to take your medication, speaking freely about your disturbance and accepting your doctor’s recommendation are ways to fight the stigma in your own way. As long as people who suffer from schizophrenia will not be afraid to expose themselves in front of they’re family, they’re friends, neighbors, colleagues at work and so on, to speak freely about they’re disease, then “Normal” people would see that schizophrenia is not so different than other common disease such as Diabetics or any other chronic disease.
