According to the traditional Chinese thought about mental illnesses, in China, traditionally and to the present day, schizophrenia has been defined as an illness of “excessive thinking”, what means that a person’s mind who goes through a psychotic disorder is actually working so fast that causes him to go “Mad”. Here are 5 activities you can do with your mind while going through psychosis:

1) Writing a new relativity theory
You got it right! Your mind works so fast that you can do amazing things with that kind of thinking. You can even rewrite Einstein’s Relativity Theory in a way that would give you your own Nobel Prize.

2) Skimming through your life
Going through psychosis is like riding a roller coaster. Your mind works so fast, exactly how it does when a person falls from a skyscraper. People who survived such a terminal experience revel that all of their lives went through their mind like a tremendous movie. So you can use the psychosis experience to do exactly that.

3) Develop a thriller
You have the chance to participate in the thriller of your life! Don’t let go away. After you recover from this experience, seat by the table and write it all down. It has great chances to be the best seller of your life!

4) Review your relations
Psychosis is a great way to look straight into the eyes of your loved ones and closest relatives. You see exactly how they act when they make a conversation beside you while believing that you can not understand what they talk about. But you know the truth about it, don’t you?

5) To pay back
When going through psychosis, you don’t have any collar on your mouth. You can then close any open check that you have with your relatives or loved ones, with the justification of being possessed by a psychotic disorder. They will take it into consideration next time they will approach you.

Here are 5 situations that can cause a Psychosis Disorder:

1) War
This is the No. 1 stress maker. If you are in a war zone, try to get out of it as fast as you can or to go to a calmer area. A war and its sites can cause psychosis to people who are mentally sensitive, or went through psychosis in their past.

2) Rape
One of the most significant situations that can cause people a psychotic disorder is obtaining sexual relationships without approval of both sides. There many cases of psychosis that are being reported after such relationships.

3) Stress
A large quantity of stress in a given time period, can cause people a psychotic disorder. It is then be wise to try to be calm as much as you can.

4) Divorce or separations
A very stressful situation can be a divorce or a separation from your loved one. It can also trigger a psychotic disorder in some of the cases.

5) Death
A death of a loved one or even “just” a friend or someone you care for, can obviously cause a psychotic disorder if you are in a risk group.

In order to prevent those triggers from causing a psychotic disorder, one should turn to receive a treatment as early and close as possible to the incidents described previously. If someone shows signs of any delusions or paranoia, he should turn to get treatment without any further delay.

Well, I’m going to give you five tips to help you evaluate for yourself whether your dream is for real or is it just a dream.

1) Do you feel the pinch?
When you wake up in the morning or in the middle of the night, you can do the old trick of pinching yourself. If you would feel it, then it is probably just a dream.

2) Examine your surroundings
If you wake up and with a doubt, try to look around and see if you recognize your surroundings. If you do, then it was probably just another dream.

3) Listen to yourself
If you wake up in the middle of the night or in the morning, and you are not sure if it was a dream or not, just say a word, any word. If you hear yourself then it was only a dream and you can calm down.

4) Look around
Are you ling on your bed? Look around and see if you are familiar with your bed. Do you remember going to bed last night? If you do, then don’t worry, it was just a dream.

5) Are you conscious?
If you are aware of with what is going on around you, then you probably have wakened up from a dream. Try to think a rational thought in order to eliminate the fact that it isn’t real and whether it is a dream or not.

This post is a result of inspiration of my friend, Asher’s Blog. Take a look:

This is the most common cause for paranoid sufferers to amplify they’re delusions. TV broadcasts are usually can be a significant element to develop the plot that goes in the sufferers mind when having paranoia. Don’t try to turn on the TV in order to entertain your paranoid sufferer.

2) Reading the newspaper
Many times when sufferers goes to a public hospital, just before being hospitalized in a psychiatric one, care givers brings to them the daily newspaper. But that newspaper causes the sufferers to take off with they’re paranoid thoughts, searching in they’re delusional mind for the connection between what they read and see and they’re personal life. Take care not to bring paranoid sufferers any kind of magazine and newspaper.

3) Watching at pictures
When a sufferer with paranoid symptoms conduct a dialog with people, you should try to change the subject, or not to answer if he insist of trying to explain why someone did things to him in the past, or whether others want to harm him. Try not to continue this kind of talk with your sufferer loved one.

5) Confronting with people
When someone goes through a paranoid disorder, his mind usually builds an alternative reality. This reality almost always causes him to think that people want to harm or even kill him.

I keep receiving many e-mails and phone calls; from consumers whom are asking me whether it is a good idea to stop taking your drugs since those people feel well and ok now. My answer to them is – Don’t dare to do so! It can become your worst nightmare in the recent years.

Here are 5 dangers of stopping taking your psychiatric drugs:

1) Reoccurring psychosis
By stopping taking your pills, you can obviously feel ok in the near future to come, but as soon as you get your first minor crisis, the trigger would be activated and you would go into even worse psychotic disorder than ever.

2) Vulnerability
When you take your psychiatric medication, your body is less sensitive and less vulnerable to surrounding mental dangers of your daily life. Your drugs function as a life vest, defending your soul from ups and downs in your daily routine. If you take this life jacket of, then your body becomes more sensitive to its surroundings when every small change can trigger a psychotic disorder.

3) Your positive symptoms comes back
One of the major effects of anti psychotic drugs on people who suffer from schizophrenia is preventing what is called the positive symptoms. These are the same symptoms that cause you delusions, hearing voices, paranoia and like living in a dream. Be certain that if you stop taking your pills, it would be a matter of short time until they rise again.

4) Your negative symptoms comes back
One of the good influences of psychiatric drugs on your illness is the preventing of your schizophrenia negative symptoms. If you stop taking your anti psychotic drugs, then your negative symptoms come back and take control of your daily life and activity.

5) Loosing achievements
By taking your psychiatric drugs, you can obviously continue with your daily routine, conquering more and more goals in your life and keeping the progress in your mental health improvement. There is no doubt in the fact that stopping taking your psychiatric drugs, would cause you loosing those great achievements that you worked so hard for them.

Well, that ambition or consequence is not always detached from the real world. Many times, most of the things that a sufferer goes through during his psychotic disorder are close to real things that are happening and they have a grip in the real world.

If you as a sufferer understand that the materials that those delusions are taken out from are real experiences, and that those hallucinations are driven from real life experiences of your past, than there is no other choice than to believe that they has foundations in the real world.

Having psychosis is like having a nightmare, but this dream seems very real, and it usually lasts for more than a night, during the days that follows and even for several weeks, until getting the right treatment and that treatment begins to influence the human mind. The same materials that are being used for a psychotic mind, are used for the common dreams and nightmares, therefore the similarity between them is great.

After “waking up” from that bad dream, by the effect of the anti psychotic drugs, sufferers begins to understand that they went through a very significant experience. No wonder that sometimes they feel obligate to believe that what they went through and what went through they’re minds, happened for real. This is another reason why many sufferers that went through this kind of experience, are finding an escapement in becoming religious or even only spiritualist. In this way they can become close to they’re belief and giving they’re close to reality experiences, a significant realization.

Feel free to share with us your close to reality delusions by replying to this topic…

It can happen because usually after getting out from the psychotic state of mind, people tend to develop a post psychotic depression. A post psychotic depression is when you don’t feel anything; you act like a zombie, living your life without meaning like a machine. I call this state to become “Extinguished”.

In order to avoid people that went into a psychotic depression from harming themselves, they’re relatives should remain close to them and not to live them for themselves with no supervision. In spite of that, they’re relatives should also not over take care and not strangle with too much attention.

From the sufferers point of view, they should understand that they went through a very difficult period and they’re soul acts as if an atom bomb has exploded inside they’re soul, therefore they should give themselves enough time and space to recover from they’re depression.

I’m sure that in time, things would go back to close to how they were before the psychotic episode. If you or your loved one suffers from psychotic depression, you should give yourself the time needed, while making efforts to do positive activities that would help you to recover from this state as soon as possible. Get out of the house, read a book, watch a nice show on TV, take a walk, go to work – do anything that would cause you think on other things except of your suffer.

You feel like as if an atom bomb is exploding inside your mind.

It feels like your thoughts are going from one to another, without being able to control them. You jumps from one subject to another, jump to conclusions without hesitating. Your mind works so fast that I won’t be surprised if Einstein wrote the theory of relativity during a psychosis disorder.

I’m sure that one of the obvious sign for “Getting Mad” in a psychotic disorder is when your mind gets out of control in the above way. The wisdom is how not to lose this extraordinary phenomenon, and do something useful with it.

I think that one useful thing to do with your mind’s goes into sprint, is when everything is over and your psychotic disorder had went away (until the next time), you should take a peace of paper and a pen, or seat near your computer and put everything that went in your mind during that seizure into writing. I’m sure that in time you would put it into good use as lyrics or an interesting fiction story.

I’m sure that during history, famous genius people, wrote down they’re psychotic thoughts, and did with them remarkable ideas such as the Mona Lisa by Devinchi, or the Theory of relative by Einstein.
Do you have more ideas how to put into good use your psychotic thoughts?

This is the one million dollar question!

Many people ask me this question after they get frustrated and almost give up trying and convincing they’re loved one to receive the proper medical treatment they need.

From my own experience and personal knowledge, more than 50% of the people who are under a psychotic disorder, refuse any kind of help given to them. This is the main reason why so many times, forcing hospitalization is needed.

In order to convince your loved one to receive the proper treatment that is needed, you should first approach by nice words, a worm hug, in a low voice with out shouting or yelling. Try to calm your loved one, gaining his trust and trying to explain the situation to him in a calm matter.

Don’t force him at first, don’t shout at him, don’t hit him and don’t lie to him. Try to use the help of someone that your loved one trusts him the most. It can be his shrink, his therapist, his brother, his wife or husband or any one that your loved one consider as a friend.

Remember that your loved one is not doing it on purpose, he is in a bad mentally shape and there is a big chance that he is refusing to get treatment because of his Paranoiac delusions, and he thinks that we want to harm him and not willing for his best.

In the past years since I started to act for other consumers, I received many phone calls asking whether it is Ok to hospitalize they’re loved one who suffer from psychosis. These people wanted my approval for doing that. But why is that?

The answer is that they go through a conflict. It is against humane nature to take your loved one and put him behind a kind of bars. The hospitalization act is considered to be the last resort for treating your loved one with psychosis.

If you have enough patient as a family, you are supportive and willing to accept any kind of behavior, may be you can consider giving treatment to your loved one inside your house. You have to take into consideration that it would cost you a lot of money and personal efforts. If you decide to do that, you would have to use a private doctor to come to visit at your house for several times, and that’s alone costs a lot of money.

Nonetheless, you have to take precautions and do things to prevent any extreme action of your loved one. You have to take away from the house any sharp tools such as knifes and screwdrivers in order to prevent him to do an extreme act of despair.

If you are not ready for that kind of devotion, you can consider what more than 90% of the population is doing – Hospitalization. Take into consideration that you are doing it for your loved one. You want his sake and are doing an act of despair after you tried with no success to help him in other ways.

There is a possibility that your loved one would hate you for that, but in time he would understand that you did not have any other choice.

Do you have any other Pros and Cons for a Psychiatric Hospitalization?
